Free 12-week pre-apprenticeship training from the Chicago Urban League and ComEd for careers in construction, utilities and clean energy.
The Chicago Urban League and ComEd are now recruiting for the 2027 CONSTRUCT Infrastructure Academy, a pre-apprenticeship that prepares Chicagoans for Registered Apprenticeships, union trades and careers in utilities and clean energy. The program begins Monday, January 11, 2027.
Trainings include
- CAST exam prep
- OSHA-10 certification
- CDL Class A permit
- Construction site job shadowing
- Career fair
- Exposure to industry employers and local unions
Qualifications
- 18 years or older
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or GED
- Negative drug test and background check
- 11th grade level on the TABE test in reading, basic and applied math (tested before enrollment)
