Today is Thursday June 30th and our last day in Hangzhou. This is our 10th day in Hangzhou it has truly been an amazing experience. We’ve learned so much through seminars, tours and study visits at the Hangzhou Wanxiang Polytechnic Institution. The students and teachers have been nothing but supportive, helpful and kind to us and I will truly miss them.
11:19AM: We just finished touring the facilities of Wanxiang Group and we are now boarding the bus.
11:21AM: We waved goodbye to the happy faces of the workers at Wanxiang Group, now we are headed to lunch.
11:19PM: Today has been a long day, its lights out and my roommate and I are doing some last minute packing. We are so excited for Shanghai in the morning. The closing ceremony was bittersweet. I cried a lot, because it was hard to say goodbye, but then I remembered that it’s easier to say “see you later.” I was able to perform a short contemporary dance during the ceremony and I can’t thank everyone enough for their continuous support. I have had so much fun here in Hangzhou and I’ve made so many new friends. I’ve been able to bond with my peers and Ms. Parker on another level and it has truly been a great learning experience. Only two more days until we’re back home in ChiTown, and even though I’m excited to go back to family and friends, I’m sad that I have to leave the ones I’ve made relationships with here in China.

Today is Thursday June 30th and I am excited to experience my 10th day in Hangzhou. To start our final day in this city, we visited the Wanxiang EV and PV facilities in order to expand our knowledge on renewable energy, battery products and automobile parts. After our final excursion in Hangzhou, we celebrated our stay with a farewell dinner along with all of the Wanxiang student ambassadors. This exposure to China has allowed me to make new friends and life long memories with the ones I love. Although I’m sad that the trip is coming to an end, I’m also jumping for joy to get back to Chicago and share my life-changing experience with the people of our community. As an ambassador for America, my family, the Chicago Urban League and the African American community, visiting China is definitely a great example of the power of opportunity. This is a moment that I will never forget!
