Chicago Urban League to Host Annual Black Film Fest

Voter Registration Available each week at 5:00p.m.

What:  In celebration of Black History month, the Chicago Urban League will kick off its annual Film Fest tomorrow and every Tuesday in February. This year’s theme is “Journey through Black History: Connecting New and Past Generations.”

Three documentaries will be shown that focus on racial stereotypes; modern-day slavery, connection to the African Diaspora and activism. (See list of films in attached flyer.) Each viewing will be followed by a panel discussion with community thought leaders. During the fourth week, short films produced by four students in the Chicago Urban League’s Student Development and Human Capital programs will be screened.

Prior to the start of each film, a voter registration drive will take place from 5:00p.m. – 6:00p.m. Chicago Urban League President and CEO Shari Runner will be registering voters Tuesday, Feb. 2. Other community leaders will be on hand to register voters each following Tuesday.

When:                  February 2, 9, 16 and 23 at 6:00p.m. (Voter registration 5:00p.m. – 6:00p.m.)
