NBC 5 CHICAGO AND TELEMUNDO CHICAGO PARTNER WITH THE CHICAGO URBAN LEAGUE AND THE UNION LEAGUE CLUB OF CHICAGO TO HOST THE FIRST TELEVISED 2018 ILLINOIS DEMOCRATIC GUBERNATORIAL FORUM, JANUARY 23, 2018

CHICAGO, IL – (December 20, 2017) – NBC 5 Chicago / WMAQ and Telemundo / WSNS will partner with the Union League Club of Chicago and the Chicago Urban League to host the first televised 2018 Illinois Democratic Gubernatorial Forum on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 6pm (CST). The hour-long forum, broadcast from the NBC Tower, will be moderated by NBC Chicago Political Editor Carol Marin. NBC Chicago reporter Mary Ann Ahern and Telemundo Chicago reporter Karla Leal will take questions from the audience in the roundtable-conversation format.

“We are pleased to host the Illinois Democratic Candidates for Governor in this forum,” said Frank Whittaker, Station Manager/Vice President of News, NBC Chicago. “Our commitment to political coverage is unmatched in Chicago. We look forward to giving voters a look at where each candidate stands on important issues facing our state.”

“Our main priority is to keep our Spanish-speaking viewers informed about news that affects their lives,” said Diana Maldonado, Telemundo Chicago Vice President of News. “The broadcast of this gubernatorial forum is certainly part of our commitment to the community we serve.”

The forum can be seen live, on NBC 5 and on NBCChicago.com. Additionally, it will be subtitled live, in Spanish on Telemundo Chicago and TelemundoChicago.com.

In 2015, NBC 5 and Telemundo Chicago hosted the award-winning Chicago Mayoral Debate and in 2014 both stations hosted The Republican Illinois Governor Candidate Forum.
